Critical Language Scholarships for Summer 2017

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and building relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning. The CLS Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State.

Communications Internship at Search for Common Ground

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is one of the largest international NGOs working on peacebuilding and conflict transformation. We work in 49 countries around the world with over 700 staff. In Washington there is approximately 40 full-time staff. Search is full of committed, enthusiastic and talented individuals. It is a fun place to work and an exciting place to learn. Search offers a rich range of opportunities from Brown Bag lunches, fascinating projects to get involved in, coaching and mentoring, and Happy Hours where you can get to know your colleagues.

Department: The Institutional Learning Team (ILT)

Intern Responsibilities:
-Work with the Communications Associate to develop a social media strategy for Fall 2016;
-Plan and schedule social media posts; including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn;
-Design infographics, graphics and materials for dissemination by DME for Peace and the Institutional Learning Team at Search for Common Ground;
-Assist with the development and maintenance of the DME for Peace website (dmeforpeace.org), including writing original blog posts on relevant topics;
-Manage the website user registration process.

Requirements:
-Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator);
-Experience in graphic design; -Creative; artistic; knowledge of trending styles;
-Familiarity with Adobe Dreamweaver and web design are a plus, but not mandatory
-Interest in peacebuilding & development or related fields;
-Interest, education, or experience in Monitoring and Evaluation and Peacebuilding, International Development, or other related fields;
-Experience in information gathering and research - book, journal and internet;
-Excellent written and oral English communication skills and the ability to draft, edit and proofread;
-Excellent computer skills (including Word, Excel, various Web 2.0 tools);
-Experience with content management systems (Drupal and Sharepoint preferred);
-Require 3 days per week commitment. -Senior undergraduate or graduate level preferred;

-Support a content audit and content reorganization of the resources of DME for Peace (dmeforpeace.org)
-Sort and restructure a global database that houses contributions and resources from 13 leading peacebuilding organizations;
-Research emerging practices in DM&E, lessons learned from peace and development programs, key evaluation findings etc;
-Maintain the internal ILT website with up to date content and tools;
-Contribute to content management and active discussions on the DME for Peace website and its communities of practice.

Requirements:
-Interest, education, or experience in Monitoring and Evaluation and Peacebuilding, International Development, or other related fields;
-Interest, education or experience in Data Management, Information Management, Information Systems.
-Experience in information gathering and research - book, journal and internet;

Participants Needed for Paid Study on Data Analysis

The study is looking for participants to visually analyze datasets using a web-based data browser. All skill levels are welcome, and we all individuals who are non-experienced in data analysis are still encouraged to participate. The study will take at most 60 minutes, and individuals will be given $10 cash for their participation.

Program Analyst Position Open at the Bureau of Diplomatic Security

This position is located in the Policy and Planning Division, Office of Management Services, Office of the Executive Director, Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The Policy and Planning Division exercises Bureau-wide responsibility for the development and implementation of a framework of policies and guidelines that govern the management and operation of the Bureau and oversees the strategic planning documents. The incumbent serves as a Program Analyst responsible for working with specifically assigned organizational segments of the Bureau in the development of policies and procedures.
