Job Description Summary: The Program on Extremism at George Washington University provides analysis on issues related to violent and non-violent extremism. The Program spearheads innovative and thoughtful academic inquiry, producing empirical work that strengthens extremism research as a distinct field of study. The Program aims to develop pragmatic policy solutions that resonate with policymakers, civic leaders, and the general public. To achieve these objectives, the Program brings together a unique team of experts from various continents and a range of disciplines, including government officials with experience in public safety and law enforcement; scholars; former extremists; counter-extremism practitioners providing firsthand assistance to families grappling with radicalization
The Program seeks a Research Center Associate to be a member of a larger team looking at non-violent extremism in the United States. The Research Center Associate will be responsible for drafting reports and memoranda based on the data collected on non-violent extremist groups and their activities. The position will require the individual to conduct research independently and will need to utilize open source information to obtain intelligence for more in-depth analysis. This includes assisting staff with original research and analysis. The Associate will be expected to produce written reports and op-eds on behalf of the Program on Extremism. Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
