Twenty First Annual Summer Workshop on
Analysis of Military Operations and Strategy (SWAMOS 2017)
to be held at Cornell University, July 9-23, 2017.
The workshops held in the previous twenty years have been
extremely successful experiences in intellectual community-building, and
participants each year have responded that the experience exceeded their
expectations and proved critical in their professional development.
SWAMOS will pay all travel and living expenses for the
workshop.
Our objective is to provide an opportunity for people who
have a general exposure to security issues but who would like to become
academically conversant with military policy studies, and who would incorporate
material on the subject when teaching courses on international relations or
foreign policy.
SWAMOS focuses on subjects that are no longer taught in
detail in most universities. Although some attention is given to
guerrilla warfare and counterinsurgency, the program aims primarily at
developing a grasp of conventional warfare. Last year’s syllabus can
be found on our website at:
SWAMOS is funded by a private foundation, and is not
sponsored by any government agency.
More information than appears in the attached brochure may
be obtained from the SWAMOS program coordinator, Emily Holland at ejh2132@columbia.edu or swamos-info@columbia.edu.
The application and letter of recommendation must arrive by March 1, 2017. Fore more information go to www.siwps.org/swamos.
