US Army's (TRADOC) Mad Scientist Initiative - Science Fiction Writing Contest

Entry Guidelines
Deadline: February 15, 2017 – no entry fee
Winner announced: 31 March 2017
Writing contest is OPEN TO EVERYONE (18 & older)
** NO DOD OR MILITARY AFFILIATION REQUIRED**

One Overall Winning Submission Receives:
Most Expenses covered for travel 

Publication:
Papers chosen by panel will be published in: Army Press, Small Wars Journal
Our intent: to publish exceptional material 
5000 word limit

Basic guidelines:
Co-writers are allowed. Only one writer needs to submit.
Focused on Sci-Fi writing
Electronic submissions only
Word doc preferred in .doc, .docx, will accept PDF
Short story- 5000 WORD COUNT (8 page limit)
12 point font, single spaced, 8.5x11 page size
Must include release form- or story will not be considered
USG and DOD must clear writing through PAO
Suggest reviewing attachments for more information

Some general rules:
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at time of competition close
The short story entered must NOT have been previously published
Prefer best entry over multiple entries
Any written material submitted may be freely used by the Army
Best piece of advice we can give all writers is to submit material that highlights your unique voice– and unique story- what separates you and your short story from the pack.
